Yeah, FC, the "Johnny Carson" bit is sort of sad when taken in the context of the movie. But seen in its entirety, it is hilarious, and Bob handles himself well.

Here's an excellent Pink Floyd love song. It's called "A Pillow of Winds," and it's from the "Meddle" album. A cloud of eiderdown Draws around me Softening the sound. Sleepy time when I lie With my love by my side, And she's breathing low. And the candle dies. When night comes down You lock the door...

Hilarious imdb.com thread from "Room With a View"

I enjoyed "Room With a View" and have seen it several times. I was over at the imdb site a few days ago and saw this classic thread. "Shouldn't we be warned about the massive nudity? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "This is a joke that it's not rated....

To me, what is interesting about this scene is the closeup of the woman putting her hand in the man's. Much later, during the scene in the bar after the fire alarm, Bob first offers Charlotte his right hand, and she shakes it. In the next shot, she has put her left hand in his, just like the wedding...

1) Bob slept with the singer because he was weak. She put herself in his way and encouraged him to pay attention to her. He knew his wife would never know. He didn't count on Charlotte finding out about it. Possibly on one level he didn't think he felt enough for Charlotte to care. That changed the ...

To me it's a powerful affirmation of something good...it's triumphant. These two people were just sort of wading around in the muck, and by the end of the movie they felt so alive and aware of the good things life has to offer. It hit me like a good explosion.

I agree with JM. The song works great where it is. The lyrics may or may not parallel the storyline.

I think the "jazz band" quip is a double sided statement. One, Charlotte is ridiculing Bob's sleeping with the singer. Two, she is tossing out the distant possibility that she might have been willing to sleep with Bob. At least, she wishes Bob had considered that option. Her behavior in the elevator...

This movie illustrates a restraint that we don't see anymore. You have two people existing in the roles that their culture expects them to play who, when they stumble across each other in an alien environment, struggle to keep to their proscribed roles while also straining to get acquainted without ...

To me, Bob was a pathetic lout for much of the movie. He didn't shake off his self-centered persona for good until the end of the movie. Charlotte kept nudging him to come out of his fog, and occasionally he did for a short while: when he belted out "Peace, Love, and Understanding," and during the "...
