The Life Aquatic DVD
The DVD just came out and I wanted to warn everybody:
Usually when films are released and there is a special Criterion Collection version, the CC version is labeled as such and is more expensive than the standard one.
I bought what I thought was the special version and got home to find that BOTH versions are "Criterion Collection", but one is a Special 2 disc edition.
The important stuff like deleted scenes and commentary by Anderson are on both versions, but I was disappointed and I hope I can spare confusion for someone else.

Yeah, I really liked it. If you liked past Anderson movies, it's a safe bet that you'll like this one. It is like the others only Bill is front and center for two hours (which makes it like, 4 times better)
Wes Anderson movies are great. I don't know if I'd call them genius or hilarious or whatever, but I love how each one lives as its own creation. The characters, scenes, and dialogue could only exist in his films and they're fun to experience because they have this life all their own.
And it cracks me up how they all feel perpetually cemented in this early 70's vibe. Because of it, the movie almost feels quaint despite the astronomical amount of money it must have taken to make.

Does LiT have a Criterion Collection version? Mine has Bonus features such as deleted scenes, a conversation with Bill and Sophia, "Lost on Location" and more scenes of Kelly's press conference and water aerobics, etc.Azshi wrote: Usually when films are released and there is a special Criterion Collection version, the CC version is labeled as such and is more expensive than the standard one.
If there is a CC, I sure want it!!

You can [u:80d2969911]read Criterion's FAQ[/u:80d2969911], and you can [u:80d2969911]ask them to make an LIT disc[/u:80d2969911]. The more requests they get, the more likely they would be to see a market for it.
Is anyone else pissed at seeing the ugly American cover with a cheap-crap-movie price of $9.99?"

I just watched the movie, The Life Aquatic I mean and it was quite a good movie. At least they tried to be somewhat original and there are some very funny, smart jokes that might go unnoticed and unappreciated by some people. Bill dancing to the techno music and fighting off pirates with a color speedo on was priceless though. But wow, He(Bill) is getting old fast.

That movie was funny. It's odd; I love the way it was filmed. Some parts were a bit sad too, like the helicopter crash. I bought it a few weeks ago and have watched it three times already. You should watch the bonus stuff if you get the chance.I just watched the movie, The Life Aquatic I mean and it was quite a good movie. How old is he? I thought in his early fifties. He has gained weight, I think, but I thought it could've been for the movie. And as for his hair, I thought it was dyed in LiT. But I'm crazy. But wow, He(Bill) is getting old fast.
I love Hemingway and thought Steve looked a lot like him, which I also thought was funny. I like Wes Anderson, so I wasn't surprised that I enjoyed it.
They poise and grieve as in some old tragedy.
I think all of Wes Andersons films bare a similarity to Lost In Translation in some way! The humour is the same I find! Especially in The Darjeeling Limited, the three brothers have been estranged from each other for years and then they come back together in a country that none of them are familiar with! Brilliant film but not as good as LIT! Oh and if anyone hasn't seen it there's a little cameo from Bill!
Lip them!
