Here we go, Ith:

Bang the Drum All Day

I dont want to work

I want to bang on the drum all day

I dont want to play

I just want to bang on the drum all day

Ever since I was a tiny boy

I dont want no candy

I dont need no toy

I took a stick and an old coffee can

I bang on that thing til I got

Blisters on my hand because

When I get older they think Im a fool

The teacher told me I should stay after school

She caught me pounding on the desk with my hands

But my licks was so hot

I made the teacher wanna dance

And thats why

Listen to this

Every day when I get home from work

I feel so frustrated

The boss is a jerk

And I get my sticks and go out to the shed

And I pound on that drum like it was the bosss head

Because

I can bang that drum

Hey, you wanna take a bang at it?

I can do this all day

Maybe a bit unrelated, because I think Tori Amos wrote it about her brother that passed away. Still, I think it's a really touching song about losing someone you love.

Toast
Tori Amos
from The Beekeeper

I thought it was Easter time
The way the light rose
Rose that morning
Lately you've been on my mind
You showed me the rope
Ropes to climb
Over mountains
And to pull myself
Out of a landslide
Of a landslide

I thought it was harvest time
You always loved the smell of the wood burning
She with her honey hair
Dalhouise Castle
She would meet you there
In the winter
Butter yellow
The flames you stirred
Yes, you could stir

I raise a glass
Make a toast
A toast in your honor
I hear you laugh
And beg me not to dance
On your right standing by is
Mr. Bojangles
With a toast he's telling me it's time

To raise a glass
Make a toast
A toast in your honor
I hear you laugh and beg me not to dance
On your right standing by is
Mr. Bojangles
With a toast he's telling me it's time

To let you go
Let you go

I thought I'd see you again
You said you might do
Maybe in a carving
In a cathedral
Somewhere in Barcelona

Just got back from the Kravitz/Aerosmith concert. Had to post this one, since I hadn't heard it in awhile. All three of their concerts I have been to, the entire audience sings along with this one start to finish...

AEROSMITH - What It Takes Lyrics
There goes my old girlfriend, there's another diamond ring
And, uh, all those late night promises I guess they don't mean a
thing
So baby, what's the story? Did you find another man?
Is it easy to sleep in the bed that we made?
When you don't look back I guess the feelings start to fade
away.
I used to feel your fire
But now it's cold inside
And you're back on the street like you didn't miss a beat, yeah

[Chorus:]
Tell me what it takes to let you go
Tell me how the pain's supposed to go
Tell me how it is that you can sleep in the night
Without thinking you lost everything that was
good in your life to the toss of the dice?
Tell me what it takes to let you go.

Yeah
Girl, before I met you I was F.I.N.E. Fine
but your love made me a prisoner, yeah my heart's been doing
time
You spent me up like money, then you hung me out to dry
It was easy to keep all your lies in disguise
'Cause you had me in deep with the devil in your eyes

[Chorus]
Guitar!

Tell me that you're happy that you're on your own Yeah, yeah,
yeah
Tell me that it's better when you're all alone
Tell me that your body doesn't miss my touch
Tell me that my lovin' didn't mean that much
Tell me you ain't dyin' when you're cryin' for me

[Chorus]

Tell me what it takes to let you go
Tell me how the pain's supposed to go
Tell me how it is that you can sleep in the night
Without thinking you lost everything that was
good in your life to the toss of the dice?
Tell me who's to blame for thinkin' twice
No no no no 'cause I don't wanna burn in paradise
Ooo Let go, let go, let go,
let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go,
let it go, let it go, let it go,
let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go
I don't wanna burn, I don't wanna burn

Anyone remember Echo and the Bunnymen? If so, I know you will recall "The Cutter." What a great tune!

Who’s on the seventh floor
Brewing alternatives
What’s in the bottom drawer
Waiting for things to give

Spare us the cutter
Spare us the cutter
Couldn’t cut the mustard

Conquering myself
Until I see another hurdle approaching
Say we can, say we will
Not just another drop in the ocean

Come to the free for all
With seven tapered knives
Some of them six feet tall
We will escape our lives

Spare us the cutter
Spare us the cutter
Couldn’t cut the mustard

Conquering myself
Until I see another hurdle approaching
Say we can, say we will
Not just another drop in the ocean

Am I the happy loss
Will I still recoil
When the skin is lost
Am I the worthy cross
Will I still be soiled
When the dirt is off

Conquering myself
Until I see another hurdle approaching
Say we can, say we will
Not just another drop in the ocean

Watch the fingers close
When the hands are cold

Am I the happy loss
Will I still recoil
When the skin is lost
Am I the worthy cross
Will I still be soiled
When the dirt is off
"Are there no more arrows left?"

Centerfold

Does she walk? Does she talk?
Does she come complete?
My homeroom angel
Always pulled me from my seat

She was pure like snowflakes
No one could ever stain
The memory of my angel
Could never cause me pain

Years go by I'm lookin' through a girly magazine
And there's my homeroom angel on the pages in-between

CHORUS:
My blood runs cold
My memory has just been sold
My angel is the centerfold
Angel is the centerfold
(Repeat)

Slipped me notes under the desk
While I was thinkin' about her dress
I was shy I turned away
Before she caught my eye

I was shakin' in my shoes
Whenever she flashed those baby-blues
Something had a hold on me
When angel passed close by

Those soft and fuzzy sweaters
Too magical to touch
Too see her in that negligee
Is really just too much

CHORUS

It's okay I understand
This ain't no never-never land
I hope that when this issue's gone
I'll see you when your clothes are on

Take your car, Yes we will
We'll take your car and drive it
We'll take it to a motel room
And take 'em off in private

A part of me has just been ripped
The pages from my mind are stripped
Oh no, I can't deny it
Oh yea, I guess I gotta buy it!

Not an Unlove Song to a person, but a couple to those who refuse to understand them. (Though I suppose if you changed the "we" to "I" and "they" to "you" it could fit someone leaving a difficult relationship to break up.) Anyway - the idea is - sometimes you can't make people understand - the only recourse is to just leave.

From the John Travolta classic TV movie: The Boy in the Plastic Bubble

What would they say
If we up and ran away
From the roaring crowds
And the worn out city faces
Would they carry on and on
When they found out we were gone
Or would they let us go
Would they tag along
Or would they know to
Leave us alone
"Willoughby. Next stop is Willoughby."

Wanna tell you about the girl I love
My she looks so fine
She's the only one that I been dreamin' of
Maybe someday she will be all mine
I wanna tell her that I love her so
I thrill with her every touch
I need to tell her she's the only one I really love

I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, she won't be true, no
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I said I got a little woman and she won't be true

Sunday morning when we go down to church
See the menfolk standin' in line
Dont say they come to pray to the Lord
When my little girl, looks so fine
In the evening when the sun is sinkin' low
Everybody's with the one they love
I walk the town, Keep a-searchin' all around
Lookin' for my street corner girl

I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, she won't be true, no no
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I said I got a little woman and she won't be true

In the bars, with the men who play guitars
Singin', drinkin' and rememberin' the times
My little lover does the midnight shift
She balls around all the time
I guess there's just one thing a-left for me to do
So I pack my bags and move on my way
Cause I got a worried mind
Sharin' what I thought was mine
Gonna leave her where the guitars play

I got a woman, she won't be true, no no
I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I got a little woman and she won't be true

(Hey hey what can I do)

I said she won't be true

(Hey Hey, What can I say?)

Hey hey, what can I do
I got a woman, she won't be true
Lord, hear what I say
I got a woman, wanna ball all day

Everybody should hear this track by Juliette and the Licks at least once. Live if possible! They are one example of a band who deliver a live performance which is 10 times better than the CD.

"Shelter Your Needs"

Give it all, give 'em hell, that's your birthright.
Back in grade school is where I learned to street fight.
I like it straightedge, right side up, un-corrupt.
You sold it all for the highlight and now you're stuck.
Sellin' skin, fake tits, mutilation.
Dick suckin lips, porno infiltration.

It's a mad, mad world, with every dizzy turn.
It's a mad, mad world, watch out you don't get burned.
It's a mad, mad world. It's a mad, mad world.

Somebody better breathe hard, you gotta believe to shelter your needs.
It's not about livin' it large when you're down on your knees with the fame disease.
So let them show you their cards, you know that they will, they always will.
Somebody had better breathe hard, you gotta believe to shelter your needs.

Pharmaceutical population.
You got your rag news selling degredation.
Cocks and monsters and bombs to blow.
Mr President, you're putting on a good show!

It's a mad, mad world, with every dizzy turn.
It's a mad, mad world, watch out you don't get burned.
It's a mad, mad world, it's a mad, mad world.

Somebody better breathe hard, you gotta believe to shelter your needs.
It's not about livin' it large when you're down on your knees with the fame disease.
So let them show you their cards, you know that they will, they always will.
Somebody had better breathe hard, you gotta believe to shelter your needs.

It's a mad, mad world, with every dizzy turn.
It's a mad, mad world, watch out you don't get burned.
It's a mad, mad world, it's a mad, mad world.

I don't care what you've been told, you've gotta breathe hard.
You've gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight, fight
I don't care what you've been told.
You gotta fight hard, breath hard. Breathe.
i know that diamonds mean money for this art, but that's not the shape of my heart.

an Un love song eh? 8)

Artist: She Wants Revenge
Album: She Wants Revenge
Title: These Things

There is nothing to see here people keep moving on
Slowly their necks turn and then they're gone
No one cares when the show is done

Standing in line and its cold and you want to go
Remember a joke so you turn around
There is no one to listen so you laugh by yourself

Chorus:
I heard it's cold out, but her popsicle melts
She's in the bathroom, she pleasures herself
Says I'm a bad man, she's locking me out
It's cause of these things, it's cause of these things

Let make a fast plan, watch it burn to the ground
I try to whisper, so no one figures it out
I'm not a bad man, I'm just overwhelmed
It's cause of these things, it's cause of these things

The crowd on the street walks slowly, don't mind the rain
Lovers hold hands to numb the pain,
Gripping tightly to something that they will never own

And those by themselves by choice or by some reward
No mistakes only now you're bored
This is the time of your life but you just can't tell

Chorus (2.5X)
"...Stay here, with me...."

The Search for Charlotte continues....

I'm pretty sure this is an un-love song. At least, it's the most depressing song I've ever heard.

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes...again

Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need...of some...stranger's hand
In a...desperate land

Lost in a Roman...wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain, yeah

There's danger on the edge of town
Ride the King's highway, baby
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
Ride the highway west, baby

Ride the snake, ride the snake
To the lake, the ancient lake, baby
The snake is long, seven miles
Ride the snake...he's old, and his skin is cold

The west is the best
The west is the best
Get here, and we'll do the rest

The blue bus is callin' us
The blue bus is callin' us
Driver, where you taken' us

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door...and he looked inside
Father, yes son, I want to kill you
Mother...I want to...f*** you

C'mon baby, take a chance with us
C'mon baby, take a chance with us
C'mon baby, take a chance with us
And meet me at the back of the blue bus
Doin' a blue rock
On a blue bus
Doin' a blue rock
C'mon, yeah

Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free
But you'll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end

The End
Jim Morrison - The Doors.
Interesting.
Fascinating biography of his I read and saw his gravesite at Pere Lachaise in Paris!

Honesty - Billy Joel

If you search for tenderness
it isn't hard to find.
You can have the love you need to live.
But if you look for truthfulness
You might just as well be blind.
It always seems to be so hard to give.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

I can always find someone
to say they sympathize.
If I wear my heart out on my sleeve.
But I don't want some pretty face
to tell me pretty lies.
All I want is someone to believe.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

I can find a lover.
I can find a friend.
I can have security until the bitter end.
Anyone can comfort me
with promises again.
I know, I know.

When I'm deep inside of me
don't be too concerned.
I won't as for nothin' while I'm gone.
But when I want sincerity
tell me where else can I turn.
Because you're the one I depend upon.

Honesty is such a lonely word.
Everyone is so untrue.
Honesty is hardly ever heard.
And mostly what I need from you.

Brilliantly biting song by CAKE (with, of course, a scathing trumpet line).

To me
Coming from you
Friend is a four-letter word.
End is the only part of the word that I heard.
Call me morbid or absurd,
But to me
Coming from you
Friend is a four-letter word.

When I go fishing for the words
I am wishing you would say to me,
I'm really only praying
That the words you'll soon be saying
Might betray the way you feel about me.

This one is a little tongue in cheek:

"What a Woman!" by Chester Burnett, aka Howlin' Wolf

I'm gonna leave you woman, before I commit a crime
I'm gonna leave you woman, before I commit a crime
You tried so hard to kill me, woman it just was not my time
You put poison in my coffee, instead of milk or cream
You put poison in my coffee, instead of milk or cream
You bout the evilest woman, that I ever seen
You mixed my drinks, with a can of Red Devil lye
You mixed my drinks, with a can of Red Devil lye
Then you sit down, watch me, hopin' that I might die
"Are there no more arrows left?"

It doesn't get much more 'un-love' than that.
