Ben-B,
Have you researched traditional meditation techniques and costs?
Have you done any meditation before?
Have you heard of trancendental meditation (TM)?
Have you googled this product for reviews online?

I did a google search and found one page where it said that you're supposed
to do what is basically a meditation technique before using the Holosync!
With something like TM which is very worthwhile and beneficial you might pay
between $500 and $1000.
So which one is better? I don't know, whichever one is right for you!
How can you know? You gotta just try it!
They say you have to use the holosync for an hour a day?
If you get it, instead, try it twice a day for 20 min each time if one
whole hour at a time is not possible.

And don't forget to listen to "A Soul's Search" as well!

I have some Holosync CDs from the Monroe Institute. It's a cool technique. The idea is based on entraining brainwaves from Beta, to Alpha, Theta and Delta. So we are talking about frequencies below the range of human hearing. In order to introduce this frequency to the brain sonically, sine waves are fed separately to the right and left ear through headphones. For example, one sine wave could be at 1,000 Hz, and the other could be at 1,012 Hz. The resulting effect is a sort of throbbing sound (called binaural beats) in the brain. This is the 12Hz difference the brain interprets. The brain would then begin to become entrained to the 12Hz frequency and start to generate an Alpha wave. This is the premise of Holosync and binaural beats.

It's a very effective way of helping in meditation and deep relaxation, but just how much were you planning on shelling out? I'd shop around I think.

Oh so in other words you can get these types of cds from several places?
I googled it and found what I thought was the official holosync website.
I'll look around for other ones thanks.

Well, "Holosync" I think is a trademark of Centerpointe. But, the technology is not new. The same brainwave entrainment patterns are found under different names with other companies.

Take a look here:

The Monroe Institute were the first to market this sort of thing. They call it Hemi-Sync. Bob Monroe is a very interesting person. He wrote three autobiographical books about his out-of-body experiences.

Also, Dane Spotts from Mind-Tek is a pioneer in this kind of work. I have all the Ultra Meditation CDs from that series. Check out the 5-Level Ultra Meditation series.

I can understand the desire to have a meditation aid. It seems so hard to do it without any help.

I've had a little experience with the Hemi-sync system. It's pretty cool for sure, but it didn't really grab me enough to buy it. I guess it's just an individual choice. I prefer the traditional meditation methods, or sometimes just listen to natural sounds like waves, or rain or birds.

A friend got into it for a while. She went through several levels but eventually left it behind. I think this is very common with this sort of thing. People who are seekers tend to go through things -- whatever is the latest thing.

If you've got a few hundred dollars burning a whole in your pocket, check it out. It IS neat. But I would try to find out how many people really stick with it for years and experience significant benefit over various other methods.
With intensity.

What did you end up getting?

Brain-entraining CDs are so useful an aid to meditation.
