Oscar picks?!

#1 Post by Guest » Fri Mar 03, 2006 6:46 pm

Who is going to watch the Oscars? Im going to watch because Jon Stewart is hosting and it might be very funny.
Of all the movies I have only seen March of the Penguins.
So I can't give any favorites or predictions.
Anyone?!

I'll have to be content with watching the highlights as it doesn't start until 3am over here in England. I've placed a bet on Rachel Weisz winning best supporting actress for The Constant Gardener. I'd like to see Philip Seymour Hoffman win best actor and Jake Gyllenhaal win best supporting actor. Other than that, I'm not bothered.
Where the hell's the whiskey?

I watch for the fashion
I haven't seen any of the movies involved, well except Geisha and Pride and Prejudice, King Kong, Narnia, and will see Match Point next week.
Best dressed female imo was Nicole Kidman

LOL You know it is going to be, so why watch?

I hardly ever watch the Oscars, for that reason, but I do like to check out the red carpet pics after.

"Best dressed female imo was Nicole Kidman"

I would have to say I thought Uma looked mahhhhvelous. Jada Pinket was looking pretty good to. I've never really been a big fan of Kidman's look though...

But for me, there were just not enough pictures of Jake G. He looked adorable, as usual.

I can't image they would be at a place which was [u:1960b4abfa]completely[/u:1960b4abfa] absent of class!"

So then are there any awards shows like the Golden Globes that you think have any class?!

The only award that counts is if I buy it.

And I haven't had the nerve to invite Sofia, Bill, and Scarlett over for chili and a viewing."

I enjoyed some of Jon Stewart's banter - it was satisfyingly ironic to me that the crowd didnt' get his humor, especially when he was poking fun at how over-serious the Oscar crowd takes themselves.

Then I read several reviews of his performance - and many pointed out the similar feeling; and one nailed it when they pointed out that these stars arrive hours early to be interviewed, photograhed, and generally fawned over - and the women spending days picking out the right gown and deciding who shoudl do their hair and how and who should do their makeup and how - and then there is the really long and wide red carpet (we watched some of the E! preshow and I had no idea that the red carpet went on for so long - it seemed for over a block long and wider than the sidewalk); so they then walk into this theater that I understand was built primarily for the Oscars - and they get these great seats in a very large auditorium and they know cameras could be on them at any time.

And we are surprised that they think they are special and better than the rest of us?
