Better late than never, here's a couple of photos I took in April of the street where Bob has his whisper:

This is the end of the street where they meet:

The junction at the end is where Bob parked his cab:

After 4/5 years the street isn't exactly the same, but if you look at the signs and the lamposts etc in the film you can see it's the same place.

Good idea to move this Bob- hopefully more people will get to see if it than if it the members in the lounge....when I get round to it I plan to bore you all with my travel photos in the world travel section!

I had to ask on here for help in finding it when I was there. Pockets found this in the end...

Their good-bye is in Plaza Dori, near the west entrance to Shinjuku Station.

I would add to that by saying head to Shinjuku station, and then Yodobashi Camera (should be marked in any guidebook). It's one of the streets in this area, away from the main buildings around the station. I would try and use the tall building in the background as a reference.

Pitman, I've uploaded these pics using photobucket, maybe the site was down? Let me know if you can see them now...

What time of day did you take these photos?

I love how deserted the street is in contrast to the final scene in the movie.

I took these photos quite early in the morning, around eight a.m. No chance of catching a street like that so quiet later in the day....

Very beautiful. I can never get over how crowded the streets are with signage and such. I must admit I barely noticed while watching the film. One day I hope to stand in that very spot.

sam, what does the Japanese say in your sig? (I apologize if you've been asked this already). All I can make out is jiyani'i or something like that

Actually, I only came up with the signature the other week, so you would be the first! I took the outline from the lit website, the text is actually the subtitles from the japanese dvd when Bob says 'you're not hopeless'. At least I hope it's what it says, and hopefully not something like 'not for copying or resale'

Man, that street looks weird ..... it's so ........ empty. It feels like a movie set where everyone has gone home after the film wrapped. LIT's end scene (between Bob and Charlotte) is so resonant because of all the people and the noise of every day life that Bob and Charlotte's special union is contrasted against. That scene would lose all of its poetry if it suddenly lacked the analogue buzz of life.
